Holiday Houses Rupini

A first visit to Tuscany can be an extraordinary experience. Even if you have already been there you will find plenty of things to do and to see.

The Rupini's holiday houses are a complete change from the bustle and strain of town and city life. They are situated at 550 mt a.s.l. on the hills of the Tosco-Emiliano Appennine, near the town of Bagni di Lucca, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view on the wonderful valley.

It is the ideal place for the lovers of open-air sports, where is possible to take excursions by walk and to do trekking on the trails that brings up on the Tre Potenze, Monte Incoronato, Prato Fiorito, Monte Mosca, or to canoe on the Lima's torrent.

It is also possible to take guided excursions to the natural reserve of Orrido di Botri, which is a huge limestone gorge excavated by the coldwater of the Rio Pelago torrent.

We suggest a visit to the town of Castelvecchio Pascoli which is named after the great Italian poet Giovanni Pascoli who lived here, and a visit here it will be like travelling on his footsteps.

Not far you find the lovely town of Bagni di Lucca, a spa with ancient traditions visited by amongst others, Shelley, Robert and Elisabeth Browning, the great Alexandre Dumas, the composer Strauss, Liszt and the Demidoff nobles. They use to go to the natural terms within a natural cave, and in other times there was even a famous Casinò.

For the skiers is possible to reach the "Abetone" and "Val di Luce" ski-slopers, and the charming Garfagnana site called from someone the Italian Swiss.

It is recommended an excursion to the Orecchiella Park, which is a beautiful natural reserve.

For the sea lovers, it is easy to reach the Versilian Coast, where not far you can find Torre del Lago Puccini, a famous site where lived the famous musician and composer Giacomo Puccini, his house now is a museum overlooking on the lake.

Some other historical and cultural interesting sites are the towns of:

• Lucca: called the town for hundred churches, rises in the fertile plain between the Pisans hills and the Apuans Alps
• Pisa: where you can admire the main sights in the aptly named "Piazza dei Miracoli", the leaning tower, the Cathedral and Baptistery.
• Florence: with the dome of Santa Maria Novella, one of the two great friary churches with a wealth of works of art, and then the Uffizi, Florence's major picture gallery.
• In a short distance you can find the terms of Montecatini and San Giuliano, where you can take a rest and enjoy some relaxing time by taking care of your body and mind.

We converted our houses with love out of the old stables. Each combines original character with today's comforts, we tried to make each a real home and not just a temporary holiday house.

The houses differ in location and size. Each has its own character, but everywhere you can be certain of a warm welcome and happy holiday for just a few days or longer.
